A quick 20-minute scan of the Motorway and Alders Lakes at New Hythe at lunchtime today. No sign of Saturday's Smew or Redpolls, but a pair of
Goldeneye on Little Alders Lake. The male displayed on a couple of occasions, I attempted some photos (no more comments Warren!) but with the usual results - maybe I ought to stick to mammals!

We've got goldeneyes displaying up here on the Tyne at the moment- very entertaining birds http://cabinetofcuriosities-greenfingers.blogspot.com/2010/01/spring-show-offs.html
ReplyDeleteI had the sub male displaying on Sunday as well...
ReplyDeleteAdam,
ReplyDeleteI took some Goldeneye photo's last winter of the one that visited my patch lake, the photo's were well worse than yours today!!
You do take a good fox pic though ;-)
Hi Adam.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you made it down to the lakes to get a record photo of the Goldeneye's.
Nice to know there still there.
