Only a quick scan out the back of my house in Barming this morning - Fieldfares flying over greeting me as the first bird of 2009. Off patch for the rest of the day, taking in Knole Park, Sevenoaks to wear the kids out (adding Ring-necked Parakeet) and then a late visit to New Hythe to try for the Bittern - no luck, but pleased to meet up with Steve Nunn and Terry Laws again who pointed out the Red Crested Pochard on Tesco Lake.

Thursday 1st January
Only a quick scan out the back of my house in Barming this morning - Fieldfares flying over greeting me as the first bird of 2009. Nice shot of the Parakeet. I'll have to keep an eye open for the RCP next time I'm at the lakes. Happy New Year
