Glad to have caught up with the Hooded Merganser, just 20 minutes off patch at East Peckham, late this afternoon after missing out a couple of weekends ago.  Both my lads were in tow, having picked them up straight from school, and it cost be a couple of quid in sweets to entice them along - but once there they seemed quite interested.  I can feel a few trips coming on!

Nice photo of the Hooded Merganser. Looks like you have got a couple of budding twitchers on your hands there :-)

Hi Adam,

I've followed your blog for the last few years. I was able to catch up with the Waxwings in East Malling thanks to you a few years ago.

Would you be able to give me directions to find the Drake Smew and Merganser? I haven't seen a male Smew for years and don't seem to find the time to get to Dunge.

I can get to East Peckham as I worked in Tunbridge Wells until recently, so used to go past it twice a day!

My email is goss.tim@googlemail.com

many thanks,

Tim Goss

ps. Birding highlight for my part of North Kent (New Ash Green) haven't extended beyond Redpolls and Bramblings, so would love something 'watery'!
