More Swallows and House Martins swarming over Gallagher's Gallop off Kiln Barn Road this evening - estimate of 100+ Swallows and 30+ House Martin.

Imagine what Marc Heath or Steve Ashton could have done with those backlit streamers, tails and wings!

I was trying to get a photo showing all the Hirundines Adam, but my shots never showed a true reflection, they are something to see in that number though :-)

Hi Warren, yeh its so difficult when they literately darting around your head! Wish I'd taken a video now - may be tomorrow. If I'd had a decent camera and more skill (ala Steve Ashton or Marc Heath) I could have got some cracking shots of the evening sun shining through the wings and tails of the swallows. One day I'll get the shot!

ps. Warren, a quick count on the top photograph shows 26 birds - so about a 10th of those birds in the air!

duh - make that 20% of the birds - I think I probably underestimated the number.

Cheers Marc - if you see my earlier comment to Warren I would have loved to have you or Steve on site - the sun kept on shining through the tails and wings - would have made some cracking shots with the right equipment (and skill ;-))
