Monday 11th July 2011

Just 30 minutes at lunchtime to take in Oaken Wood.  My first Gatekeepers of the year were on the wing, along with increasing numbers of Red AdmiralComma and Skippers.

Unfortunately no White Admiral or Silver-washed Frits, but they'll be there somewhere!

A few other interesting bugs, with names to follow soon hopefully.

Goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia)?

Adam ,
Not sure if you were fishing for names , but , certainly wouldn't argue with the Crab Spider , some have those red markings , some don't . The strange one with the 'beak' is a female Scorpion Fly/Panorpa cognata .
Don't know what you've been doing with that Meadow Brown , even the Soldier Beetles/Rhagonycha fulva don't want to be in the same shot .
